Should I try to go higher?

He seems to be in the way, but she can't tell whether he wants to go further up, or for her to jump down.

Minoru looked down at a playfully impatient face.

“I guess that’s what I get for being so much smaller than all you guys.” He laughed. “I get it. I get it! I’m in the way!”

There was really only one way to go, and that was up. So, that’s what Minoru did, until he reached a ceiling beam he could grab onto.

Viridian laughed softly and followed him up, then looked down, and her optics widened.

Wow....I am really way up high...

She couldn't quite figure out whether she was a little scared or a little giddy about it.

Minoru inched his way forward on the ceiling beam, focusing on his grip strength. This was definitely way higher than a normal human ceiling.

“Isn’t it great?!” He smiled. “I know Isamu would say it’s technically the same height, but I swear it’s higher for me than it is for you!”

It was a lot higher than a normal human ceiling. Clobber of Kaon was able to stand comfortably inside the building, and she was 40 feet tall--even taller than Megatron was when he stretched himself out to his full height.

I'm not sure about that...

It took Viridian a couple of minutes to adjust to the realisation that she'd actually managed to get far up enough off the ground that she'd damage herself if she fell. Her optics were wide.

"Yes," said Howlback, "it's dangerous. But you're good at it, so don't stand up there and panic. You did a really good job getting up there!"

Viridian glanced back and forth from Howlback to Minoru, and relaxed a little. They both looked--and felt, EM-field-wise--like they were proud of her. So she maybe ought to be proud of herself. She squared her shoulders and smiled.

So how do I get down? Not that I need to get down right now. We can keep going. But how?

Falling forty feet to a Cybertonian was quite different, relatively speaking, than falling forty feet for a human. Minoru was high enough that trying to jump straight down, unless there was a cushioned landing, wasn’t going to be a good idea.

“On a wall like this, I’d say inching back down the way you came. At least until you’re low enough where you’re comfortable that you could drop down safely.”

That mark was a little bit different for everybody. Minoru could, in the right circumstances, manage a jump from a height of about three stories. But he was far more comfortable at a height of two stories. All measured in human size.

“For now, I guess I’ll just hang.” He smirked. Gripping onto a ceiling beam with his feet dangling in mid-air, that was definitely meant literally. There weren’t too many places he could go with Viridian in the corner. “Howlback, I might have to ask for a hand. Or a paw.”

Viridian isn't fully grown--she's only six feet tall standing bipedally. So the forty-foot drop is a bit more daunting to her than it is to Howlback. However, she has claws and paws, and inching down is definitely doable.

Howlback is around 25 feet tall bipedally at full expansion, like Ravage--they're exactly the same model. She stands up under Minoru with her hands held out. "Jump, and I'll catch you!"

The distance from the ceiling to her paws was a lot more reasonable to the traceur.

“Thanks!” He smiled. “Hey Veridian, watch this!”

He swung back and forth just a bit to get a feel for how he was going to land, and then let himself drop. There was a bit of a lesson here too, though how transferrable it would be to a cat-like Cybertonian, he had no idea.

He landed on the balls of his feet, and then let the force spread out over his toes and heels. He kept his knees bent and his legs roughly shoulder width apart. It was still a fairly large drop, all things considered, so he leaned forward into the landing to touch down with his palms and let even more of the momentum dissipate. (He tried to explain most of this after the fact.)

Howlback catches Minoru easily.

Viridian grins. That's why we generally keep our knees at least slightly bent all the time! she sends to them both telepathically. She scurries up to the top of the building, then lands in Howlback's hands right next to Minoru, rubbing up on his knee like an actual cat.

This is fun!

Minoru laughed happily at the cat-like show of affection.

“You’re a natural!” He smiled. He meant that, wholeheartedly. “But where I come from, they do say that cats always land on their feet. So, I guess that’s true here too.”
